Welcome

Welcome

Welcome

Komjanc winery is located in a pleasant and secluded place, away from the main road networks. Once there, you can enjoy the quiet of a rural landscape of woods and vineyards.

Along the road that leads from the Preval church to San Floriano del Collio, the first winery you meet is that of Alessio Komjanc.

The winery is located on the slopes of the hill, in a panoramic position from which, towards the north, the sight opens up to the spectacular setting of the hills and the eastern Alps (Canin, Matajur and Monte Nero).

That border between grapes and houses

When in 1947, the border between Yugoslavia and Italy was drawn, only one third of that hilly area dedicated to the cultivation of vines and defined “Collio” in Italian, “Brda” in Slovenian, “Cuei” in Friulian and “in den Ecken” in German, remained in Italy. All these four languages were spoken by the local population until a few decades ago. Visiting this land one immediately realizes that Collio and Brda are part of a single territory in the heart of Mitteleuropa and that they have been separated by a border line due only to political geography and certainly not to physical and cultural one.

San Floriano del Collio is one of the seven municipalities that make up the Collio; a rural village of about thousand inhabitants, almost all committed to cultivating over 330 hectares of vineyards at an altitude that reaches 276 meters above sea level. Located on the top of the highest hill of the Collio, from where on clear days, you can enjoy a spectacular 360° panorama from the mountains to the sea.

Events at the Winery

For over a decade, cultural events have been organized: artistic, historical-photographic exhibitions, book presentations and workshops that all have an indissoluble bond with the territory as their common denominator, because we believe that our wines and oil are territory ambassadors.
